Flash of Genius

Based on the true story of the college professor and part-time inventor Robert Kearns (Greg Kinnear) long battle with the American auto industry, "Flash of Genius" tells the story of a man whose struggle for recognition for his ingenuity would come on a heavy toll. But this particular engineer refused to remain silent, and he took on the corporate Titans in a battle that nobody thought he could win.

The Kearns were a typical year 1960 Detroit family, trying to live their version of the American Dream. Local university professor Bob married teacher Phyllis (Lauren Graham) and, by their mid-thirties, had six children who have a hectic, but that meet Midwestern existence. When Bob is developing a device that would eventually be used by each car in the world, Kearns think they gold. But their ambitions were dashed after the auto giants who unashamedly embraced Bob's creation shunned the man who invented it.

Neglected, threatened and then buried in the years of litigation, Bob has been dogged by what was done to his family and their future. He is a man obsessed by the court and the conviction that the work of his life - or for that matter, all those who work - be recognized by those who stood to benefit. And while paying the toll for the refusal to compromise his dignity, these everyday David will try the unthinkable: to Goliath to his knees.
