Body Of Lies


Based on the Washington Post columnist David Ignatius' 2007 novel about a CIA agent, Roger Ferris (Leonardo DiCaprio), who uncovers a lead on a major terrorist leader suspected of operating out of Jordan. When Ferris consider a plan to infiltrate his network, he first won the support of cunning CIA veteran Ed Hoffman (Russell Crowe) and the collegial, but perhaps suspect, head of the Jordanian intelligence service.

Although ostensibly his allies, Ferris questions how far he can really trust these men without putting his entire operation - and his life - on the line.

Movie Trivia

- DiCaprio wanted to follow the role because he considered it a reminder of the political films in the 1970s such as The Parallax View (1974) and three days of the Condor (1975).

- Crowe lost 30 pounds to his role. The actor said that as a result of the film explore the American government and foreign policy, "I do not think it will be very popular, but that has never been a part of my project selection process."

- Mark Strong attributed its acquisition of the role of his performance in the 2005 film Syriana and Oliver Twist. - Both the novel and film were formerly called "penetration".

- Scott wanted to film in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, but the Confederation of National Media Council refused permission of the Director due to the script of the politically sensitive nature. As a result, scenes that in the Middle East were instead filmed in Morocco.

- A part of a neighborhood in Washington DC has been converted to resemble a winter Amsterdam to film ten to fifteen seconds of a car bombing.

- A major scene's spectacular explosion is not a digital input, it was a real (though controlled and safe) pyrotechnic blast - much to the joy (or, in some cases, surprise) near bystanders.

- If there are exactly looking at a massive pyrotechnic explosion while not damaging buildings still inhabited district, technicians used a "chucker car" (instead of the force of the explosion) to hurl a vehicle with violence. The refrigerator-door-sized steel plate has a powerful spring-hinge device can catapult cars for certain distances.

- Costume standards were such that performers portrayed British police wore full regalia including a tie, utility belt, regimental badge and a bulletproof vest, although none of these were visible under their emergency responders police Bles yellow rain jackets.
